The Sky Explorers Programme at Puducherry Airport was one of the most exciting and memorable learning experiences I have ever had. I was very happy to get an opportunity to visit an airport and understand what happens behind the scenes to make an airport function smoothly and safely.
During the visit, I learnt about the airside operations and got to know about important areas such as the runway, apron, taxiway, refuelling area and the Coast Guard hangar. It was amazing to realise how carefully every activity at an airport is planned and coordinated to ensure the safety and comfort of passengers.
One of the most interesting sessions was about the Fire and Rescue Team. We learnt about different classes of fire, the methods used to extinguish them and the different types of fire extinguishers. I understood that the airport fire and rescue team plays a very important role in maintaining safety and responding quickly during emergencies.
The ATC Tower was another exciting part of the visit. I learnt about the Ground Power Unit (GPU) and understood how commands and communication help manage aircraft movements and airport airspace. It was fascinating to learn how many people and systems work together to ensure that aircraft can take off and land safely.
We also learnt about the CNS Team, which stands for Communication, Navigation and Surveillance. I understood how communication between pilots and Air Traffic Controllers is recorded and maintained through systems such as the Digital Voice Recorder (DVR). This helped me realise how technology plays an important role in aviation.
I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all the officials of Twinjet for organising the wonderful Sky Explorers Programme for us. Their excellent coordination, patience and willingness to explain everything made the visit truly meaningful. The warm hospitality extended to us made us feel comfortable and welcomed throughout the programme.
This visit was not just an educational trip but an experience that inspired me to learn more about the aviation sector. I returned with new knowledge, wonderful memories and a greater appreciation for the people who work behind the scenes to keep aviation safe and efficient.
Thank you, Twinjet, for giving us the opportunity to explore the fascinating world of aviation!
