Overview

The recent athletics meet was both a rewarding and eye-opening experience. Competing against talented athletes from various schools and academies pushed me to perform at my best and highlighted both my strengths and the areas where I need improvement. I believe that with appropriate training and techniques, I could have won 1st place.

Performance Reflection

Shot Put:

In the shot put event, I felt confident during the warm-up and maintained good technique throughout my throws. My footwork, stance, and power delivery were mostly on point, which contributed to achieving a personal best of 8.34m in my second attempt. However, I noticed that my release angle wasn’t always consistent, and I lost balance on my first throw and stepped outside the circle which was a foul. Small technical errors like these might have cost me the top spot.

Relay (4x100m):

The relay race was exhilarating and required strong team coordination. I ran in the second leg and Tushar from Sky Academy ran the third leg because we had only 3 people on our team. As we haven’t practiced the baton exchange in our school, all of the exchanges were slow which made us lag behind. Personally, I maintained a good sprinting pace at the start but eventually slowed down towards the end of my leg.

Areas for Improvement:

1. Shot Put – Technique and Strength:

  • Focus on refining my release angle and improving follow-through.
  • Work on lower body strength and explosive power to generate more force in the throw.
  • Include more drills targeting balance and core stability.

2. Relay – Speed and Transitions:

  • Improve sprint speed with targeted interval training and resistance runs.
  • Practice baton exchanges under pressure to simulate real race conditions.
  • Develop better communication with teammates for cleaner handoffs.

Conclusion:

Overall, the meet was a positive step forward in my athletics journey. Placing second in both events was encouraging, and it has motivated me to push even harder for future competitions. I now have a clearer understanding of where I stand and what needs to be done to improve. With dedicated training, focused practice, and a strong mindset, I am confident that I can achieve even better results in the next meet.
